At the age of 62 I am in better condition now then when I was 21.  Strangers stop me in the food store when I am shopping to ask me “what are you doing?  You look great!”

Over the past 18 months, I have been developing The Minor Miracles Foundation to help children lead healthy and active lives.  As many of you know, this organization grew from my work as a professional trainer at Odyssey Athletic Center.  Our main goal is to curb childhood obesity and Type 2 Diabetes by helping all children regardless of age, race, and economic status.  This is a worthwhile endeavor that can only happen with the generosity of people like you. Therefore, I am asking you to give back to our children and make a donation.  Every 100% tax deductible dollar helps make a difference. Your donation will go directly to developing programing and workshops to children who can flourish physically, socially, and academically with your help.

The journey to create and fund The Minor Miracles Foundation has been long and at times difficult, but I believe that you and I can truly make a difference.  Working at Odyssey for the past 16 years has brought me great joy and happiness. However, I have reached a point in my life where I would like to leave a lasting impression on our future – our children.

The Minor Miracles Foundation has come a long way.  Minor Miracles in an official 501(c)(3) organization sponsored by the NYC Parks Foundation, and was recently appointed advocate to The President’s Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition.  NYC Partnerships for Parks has also granted startup funds to develop free programming for children in NYC parks. Our inaugural event, Teach One Reach One, is scheduled to take place August 12 and 13 in Astoria Park.   We will also be participating in Nickelodeon’s World Wide Day of Play on September 24, 2011.  These events are opportunities for children to engage in a wide variety fitness and sports related activities free of charge.

These two upcoming events are just the beginning of  my vision. The Minor Miracles Foundation will provide children with proper training and education to decrease the health risks related to obesity, raise self esteem, and pave the way for a brighter future.

Our initial fundraiser takes place midnight August 3^rd and ends midnight August 8^th. Our goal is to raise $25,000 and we need your support!  As a special one-time offer, if you donate $500 or more you will become a Minor Miracles Legacy Member for life.  A Legacy Membership entitles you to receive a free t-shirt with the Minor Miracles logo, recognition in our printed materials and website, and a wall plaque as a token of our gratitutde for being a part of The Minor Miracles Foundation from its inception.
